Overview

TypeChart is a free, browser‑based service that lets Pokémon players check type matchups and build teams. It works without an account and offers core tools and a team roster for competitive play. Because everything runs on the client side, you can use it anywhere with an internet connection.
You begin by picking one or two defending types from a list of 18: Normal, Fire, Water, Electric, Grass, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel, and Fairy. After selecting, the calculator shows a full 18‑column table that displays how each attacking type would perform against that defender. The table lists multipliers, 4× for double weaknesses, 2× for super effective, ½× for resistance, ¼× for double resistance, and 0× for immunity. For dual‑type Pokémon the tool multiplies the two cells automatically, so you see the correct combined multiplier in one step. If you tap a cell you get a quick shift to that matchup, which makes spotting specific type interactions easy.
The interface lets you change the “Type rules” selector to view Gen 1, Gen 2–5, or Gen 6+ calculations. Switching changes both the available types and the underlying multipliers. For example, Gen 1 excludes Dark, Steel, and Fairy, while Gen 6+ adds Fairy and removes some old resistances. This feature is handy if you play older games and need the correct rules.
Beyond individual matchups, TypeChart offers a Team Builder. You can add up to six Pokémon and the tool will compute shared weaknesses, resistances, and immunities across the whole set. That is useful when you want to see whether a particular combination of types covers the needed defensive spots. For Champions format players, a dedicated Champions roster is available, which lets you check the defensive coverage of a ready‑made team.
Another utility is the Nature Chart. You choose a stat to raise and a stat to lower, and the tool shows which nature produces that effect, along with the full nature chart for reference. The site also hosts guides that explain how to read the calculations, why a dual type can end up at neutral damage, and how the multiplier differs when you consider only one move type versus both.
