Overview

AdminForth is an open-source framework for building back-office and admin panels, released under the MIT license and designed to be self-hosted. Its current positioning is agent-first: it is built so that coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini or Copilot can write and extend the panel, and so that admins can also let AI agents work inside the finished panel. The project's message is that one repository, one database and one permission model serve both sides.
Getting started
A new app is created with a single command, npx adminforth create-app, and the framework supports Postgres, MySQL, SQLite and MongoDB. The generated panel gives you resource pages, for example a users table with email, role and status columns, plus create, edit and filter views. Configuration is a plain declarative object, which keeps resources, columns and plugins readable for both humans and agents.
Built for developers who use agents
Every generated project ships with the files that coding agents look for, including AGENTS.md, CLAUDE.md, an llms.txt file and a skills folder. The idea is that an agent can add a resource, a column or a plugin without being re-taught the project at the start of each session. Because the code lives in your repository rather than in a hosted builder, developers keep full control and can review every change.
Built for admins who use agents
The same resources can be exposed as tools that an agent operates on behalf of an administrator, so routine back-office tasks such as looking up records or updating statuses can be delegated while respecting the panel's existing permissions.
Key features
- Open source under MIT, self-hosted, with a live demo.
- Support for Postgres, MySQL, SQLite and MongoDB.
- Declarative configuration for resources, columns and plugins.
- Agent instruction files generated with each app.
- Role-based access, so agents act within the same permissions as people.
Use cases
Startups can stand up an internal tool for managing users, orders or content in an afternoon. Teams replacing an ageing custom admin can rebuild it in code they own. Developers experimenting with agent-driven development get a framework whose structure is easy for an agent to extend.
Pricing
The framework itself is free and open source. Hosting and any AI model usage are your own costs.
Who it is for
AdminForth suits JavaScript and TypeScript developers who want a code-first admin panel they control, particularly those already working with AI coding assistants.
