Overview

Langua is an AI language learning app from LanguaTalk that focuses on building speaking confidence through conversation with human-like AI. The company started as a tutoring platform in 2021 and later launched Langua. It says more than 30,000 learners use it, and that it has grown mainly through word of mouth from users and language teachers on YouTube.
How the AI practice works
Instead of multiple-choice exercises, you speak naturally with AI characters whose voices are cloned from real native speakers. You can choose characters from different regions, each with their own dialect. Conversations range from casual small talk to job interviews, debates on current events, role-plays of real-life situations and grammar practice done through conversation.
Feedback and vocabulary
When you make a mistake, you receive an instant correction with a clear explanation. You can save words, and the system weaves them into flashcards, stories and conversations to help you remember them. A hands-free mode lets you practise while commuting, walking or doing chores.
Human tutors
For extra support, LanguaTalk offers one-to-one lessons with tutors. It says it accepts only the top 5% of tutor applications, and smart filters help you match a tutor to your schedule and budget. Lessons can be booked in seconds, and the support team is staffed by people rather than chatbots. Tutoring covers 16 languages, including Spanish, French, English, German, Italian, Portuguese and Japanese.
AI and human together
The company does not claim that AI is better than a human tutor. It suggests using Langua for daily practice and feedback, and booking tutors for accountability, personal support and pronunciation help.
Pricing
You can try Langua for free, and you can book a free trial session with a tutor. Tutor prices vary by tutor.
Who it suits
It suits learners who have studied with apps but still struggle in real conversations, and anyone who wants frequent, low-pressure speaking practice.
Things to consider
AI conversations are a good way to build fluency but may not catch every pronunciation issue, which is where a tutor helps. Check which languages the AI covers for your target before subscribing, and test the voices in your preferred dialect.
