Overview

Colorway is a coloring page generator that uses AI to turn short text prompts into black-and-white line art you can print and color. Alongside the generator, the site hosts a large library of free coloring pages created by other users, organised by topic and tag.
How it works
You type a short description of what you want, and Colorway produces a coloring page in an outline style. The site suggests example prompts such as a mushroom-shaped house, a cute cat, a cute dancing teapot with plates beside it, or a cute dog. Simple, concrete subjects tend to work best, because coloring pages need clear outlines and open spaces to fill in. If the first result has too much detail or too little, adjust the prompt and try again.
The free library
If you would rather not write prompts, you can browse ready-made pages. Top categories include cactus, car, heart, football, teddy bear, cow, monkey and mandala pages, along with many pages inspired by popular films, games and cartoons. Pages can also be searched by tags such as cute, cat, dog, house, kids, simple, easy, intricate, realistic and aesthetic, with counts showing how many pages each tag contains. Some tags appear in Portuguese, reflecting the languages users write their prompts in.
Who it suits
Colorway suits parents looking for quick activities for children, teachers who want themed sheets for a lesson, and adults who enjoy coloring as a relaxing hobby and want designs that match their interests. Custom prompts are handy for birthdays or class topics where a specific subject is wanted, such as a favourite animal or a school theme.
Things to consider
The site invites you to create for free; check whether there are limits on how many pages you can generate. Print a test page first, since AI line art sometimes has broken lines, odd shapes or areas that are too small for young children to color. Many pages in the library are based on well-known characters from films and games, and those characters are owned by their creators, so keep such pages for personal use rather than selling or publishing them. The same caution applies if you plan to sell coloring books made with the tool; read the terms on commercial use first. Younger children may need simpler prompts with fewer details, while adults may prefer intricate or mandala-style designs. Supervise children if they browse the library, as user-generated content can vary.
