Overview

ResearchPal is an AI-powered workspace for researchers and students. It brings paper discovery, literature reviews, document analysis, academic writing and citation management together in one place. The idea is to stop switching between separate tools for each stage of a research project. The company says its users include universities, industry professionals and academic writers.
The research agent
At the centre is an AI research agent you interact with in conversation. You can ask a research question, upload a paper, explore a topic or describe what you need. The agent can find relevant research, explain complex papers, generate literature reviews, extract key insights, chat with PDFs, improve academic writing and handle citations. ResearchPal says every response is grounded in real academic sources, with the aim of avoiding the made-up references general-purpose chatbots sometimes produce.
Workspace tools
The workspace is organised into projects and a document library. Research tools include paper search across millions of academic papers, literature review generation and paper insights. Writing tools include a writing enhancer and an essay writer, and the citations section collects references as you work. Drafts show in-text citations in author-year format, which can then be checked against the original sources.
Pricing
The Starter plan is free forever, with no credit card required. It includes 15 credits a month, paper search, instant literature review drafts, paper insights and a basic citation generator. The Standard plan costs $99 billed yearly, equivalent to $8.25 a month. It includes 1,800 credits a year, unlimited research agent chats and projects, the full writing toolkit, collaboration and full export. Pro costs $359 billed yearly ($29.99 a month), with 9,000 credits a year, priority AI, long-form literature reviews and deep research. Enterprise plans for teams and universities are custom. Yearly billing saves about 25%.
Things to consider
Even with grounded sources, researchers should read the cited papers themselves and confirm that each claim matches what the source says. Students should check their institution's rules on AI assistance in coursework and theses. The credit system means heavy use of features like deep research may require a higher plan.
Projects can be shared with collaborators on paid plans, which is useful for supervisors and co-authors.
